Bleak snow chances, warm end to January
While hearing of historic snow through the Deep South, much of Nebraska is facing historic lows for snowfall this season.
Many of us have seen an inch or less.
The majority of the state is running well below average for snow. In fact, southeast Nebraska has many below average by about a foot of snow. We are on track for one of the driest winters of all time.
And the end of the month continues to look bleak for snow chances.
We have another chilly day in store. Northwest winds gusting up to 20 mph bite again, limiting high temperatures to the 20s.
Wind chills in the morning will be in the single digits closer to zero and below zero once again. Then, afternoon wind chills will only slightly warm toward the teens.
Friday will be a lot warmer with highs rising to the 40s.
The weekend also looks mild and dry. Sunday will be slightly cooler and closer to average high temperatures at this time of the year (36° in Lincoln).
The last week of January (next week) will be even warmer with several days nearing 50°, but the signal for snow has yet to be seen.
