Man accused of tackling Lincoln car dealer, stealing $30,000 is sent to district court

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man accused of robbing a Lincoln car dealer of $30,000 in cash will stand trial.
A judge ruled on Wednesday that there is enough evidence to try Daniel Doboyou and sent his case to Lancaster County District Court.
Doboyou, a 31-year-old from Philadelphia, is charged with robbery.

On Aug. 25, Doboyou and another man came to an auto dealership near 48th and Adams streets to buy a vehicle, according to court documents.
It was after hours, but the dealer told police that the sale was set up ahead of time via Facebook and text messaging.
The dealer had a bag with $30,000 that he was going to deposit in a bank, but an arrest affidavit says Doboyou tackled him and took the money.

Police said Doboyou and his accomplice fled in a Chevy Malibu, and the dealer gave chase.
The Malibu became disabled at 90th and Adams streets, according to the affidavit, and Doboyou and the other man got out and ran.
Officers searched the area for hours but could not find them.
But investigators said they discovered Doboyou’s fingerprints in the car and determined that his phone number was the one the auto dealer was texting with.
It is not clear if the other man has ever been found.
Doboyou is set to be arraigned in district court on July 9.
