City of Lincoln provides update on storm response operations

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department on Sunday provided an update regarding storm response operations across the city.
Officials said all traffic lights are back on. This comes after 69 traffic lights were out early Saturday morning due to power outages across the Capital City.

Debris collection centers are extending their hours due to the high volume of residents cleaning up after the severe storms this weekend.
The City North 48th Street Transfer Station hours are being extended five additional hours Sunday.
From noon to 5 p.m., the transfer station will only accept vehicles that are dropping off tree debris.
To avoid an extra charge, residents must secure their loads. Cash, credit card and check are accepted. Google Pay and Apple Pay are not accepted.
The transfer station will resume normal operating hours starting Monday. Those hours are:
- 6:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday
- 6:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays
- 6:45 a.m. to noon Sundays
Star City Shores will also be collecting tree debris from private residences without charge through Aug. 24.

Lincoln Electric System said the second severe storm of the weekend caused an additional 2,500 outages.
As of 6 a.m., LES said 8,500 customers are without power across Lincoln.
According to the Norris Public Power District’s outage map, more than 4,000 customers are without power.
Thayer County has the most outages with more than 1,300 people in Hebron without power.
