Cooling off, but still above average
We saw quite a few record highs today! Lincoln got to 66 degrees Thursday afternoon, which is 1 degree away from tying the old record of 67 degrees.
We’ll cool back down into the 30s early Friday morning, but these lows are close to our average high this time of year!
We won’t be quite as warm on Friday, especially for the eastern half of the state.
The main reason it’ll be cooler on Friday is some added cloud cover that lingers into the afternoon.
The wind will continue to stick around on Friday, as well.
With these warmer temperatures, rivers are starting to see the ice break up, leading to ice jam potential. Because of this, a Flood Watch is in place into early next week.
We do need moisture, too. The newest drought monitor has much of the state in Abnormally Dry, Moderate, and Severe Drought.
There are a LOT of 40s and 50s in the 10Day, with near record highs possible on Monday!
