Grand Island woman killed in airboat accident

A Grand Island woman was killed in a boating accident Sunday, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said.
It happened near the area west of Foster Road and Stuhr Road on the south channel of the Platte River.
Officials say the boat was being operated by Charles Encinger, 69, of Grand Island, with 5 passengers on board.
The boat flipped, throwing the occupants, and trapping Beverly Andrews, 48, under the boat.
Andrews was transported to CHI St. Francis Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The crash is being investigated by Nebraska Game and parks as well as the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
