Warmer in time for Christmas
Merry Christmas Eve from the Channel 8 Storm Alert Team to you and yours! As part of the holidays, we will be use GPS tracking with our Fireplace Stone & Patio Santa Tracker tonight to spy on his progress throughout the evening. You can also track him here.
By Saturday evening, he was first spotted around Norway just after sunset. Rudolph has a little more snow to cut through with the light of his nose as they continue to push north of the area.
Just in time for Christmas, our weather pattern has settled down as we continue to get warmer. Skies will remain mostly clear for Santa to safely make his pitstop in Lincoln. Overnight temperatures will drop a few degrees below zero as winds stay out of the northwest until tomorrow. From here on out, our highs and lows should remain above zero for some time.
Temperatures will steadily rise throughout the day on Christmas. We will warm up to the double digits once again by noon. By the evening, we will see some our warmest weather yet and temperatures in the upper 20s!
Later in the day, there are slight chances to see some flurries as temperatures remain below freezing. There is also a small chance mainly in areas just to our west that precipitation has the chance to become freezing rain for a brief time before flurries. All in all, it will not last long.
As we head toward the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, temperatures are going to be above average! We’ll see highs back in the 40s for about a 70-degree temperature change compared to the colder wind chills of this past holiday week.
