Another quiet day; Scattered storms return soon

The weather is not going to change much on Wednesday. It will still be warm and dry with a mixture of clouds and sun, although it should be a few degrees warmer. We’re looking for a high temperature in the middle to upper-80s across the area.

Wednesday Forecast

Some versions of Stormcast attempt to bring a spotty shower or two to southeast Nebraska during the late afternoon or evening hours. The chances of that aren’t zero, but they are slim. We’re mostly dry on Wednesday and much of Wednesday night.

However, storm chances ramp up on Thursday. We’ll have enough moisture to spark showers and storms as early as Thursday morning. Storms could last into the afternoon as well.

Stormcast Thursday Afternoon

These storms will be operating on a scattered basis, so it won’t be raining at every point, and not everyone will see a lot of rainfall. We’ll likely see localized areas of heavy rain from these.

Precipitation Potential - Thursday

As we head into Friday, we’ll get a push of dry air into the area. This will limit storm development in eastern Nebraska both on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, the moisture remains in the western sections of the state. For that reason, storms will be possible in western Nebraska on Friday and Saturday. Keep that in mind if traveling for Memorial Day weekend.

Stormcast Dew Point

Moisture begins to return on Sunday and should remain into next week for areas closer to Lincoln. This means that storm chances also return around Memorial Day and in the days to follow.
