Quick snow/mix chance, then warming back up
A quick clipper system is going to move from northwest Nebraska in the early evening, into central Nebraska just after midnight, into eastern Nebraska by early Wednesday morning. Up to an inch of snow is possible with more the further north you go.
Along I80 will have a chance at seeing rain changing to a rain/snow mix, then a quick snow shower, so accumulating snow isn’t likely. See below for what this may look like around 5:00am.
Below is what our StormCast weather model is showing for timing, location, and duration of the storm potential.
Temperatures will drop into the 20s for much of the western half of the state and the 30s for eastern Nebraska. At or above the freezing mark means a better chance for rain and a rain/snow mix.
We don’t stay too cold for very long. 40s and low 50s are likely by Wednesday afternoon.
We warm up quickly for Thursday, too. Highs will be back into the 60s and 70s!
The rain and snow may help a little bit, but it’s still dry out there and with a lot of wind headed our way Thursday, any fire that gets started can get out of control quickly. Because of this, a Fire Weather Watch is in place for most of the state.
Temperatures will be up and down over the next 10 days. By the way, spring is 10 days away!
