Mickey Joseph was then named interim head coach for the remainder of the season.  He went 3-6, leading the team to wins over Indiana, Rutgers and Iowa.

Joseph was a favorite to become the team’s next head coach for many Husker faithful, who felt he could lead Nebraska back to its former glory.

But one day after the win over Iowa, former Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule was named as the next head coach.
